How to create engaging content
Below are the three types of content or building blocks for your brand.
Educate
- Correct misconceptions about products, people or services around your brand
- Does research find out interesting facts?
- Bring your flair and style to how-to guides, hints & tips, blogs (turn your articles into videos) or review anything related to your brand.
Motivate/Inspire
- Testimonials build confidence in your product and show others your client's brand perception.
- Share exciting facts; does your product do something it's not intended to? Have a compelling point on an ingredient, person from your company or a brand and make it fun.
- Overcome objections. Are your prices too high? Explain the value, show your POD (point of difference) Industry has a lousy name, and show your clients why you are different, not you saying I’m different.
Advertising/Marketing
- Defend your brand; now, don't go abusing people because they thought you overcooked their steak. Instead, try correcting factual errors in people's comments or reviews, and be kind.
- Change Opinions, record product tester, interview strangers, or consider making a story out of giving your service/product for free to a deserving person.
- Direct product promotion, Yes, I left this one for a reason. It is the most overused and incorrectly perceived; making it valuable to your clients is a must.
These nine blocks are the foundations for making articles or videos from which you can create endless amounts of content, as seen below.
Now let's turn that one article or video into 50+ unique pieces of content.
When agencies tell you to post hundreds of unique pieces of content on social media platforms, they know this is intimidating for most people.
The misconception is that individual posts have to have unique topics; this is a sales tactic they know, with a simple strategy, you can do it quickly.
How does CSNA do it?
Using the nine blocks, one structured solid piece of content can create multiple pieces of unique content. Remember, this is a guide. Take baby steps if you need to; pick the top 2 or 3 platforms and grow them before expanding.
Example (how we couple stage this article)
- Post the article on your blog or website.
- Post a link with completing image on LinkedIn to the full article
- Video you explain the article with Youtube compiling b-roll (pictures or videos).
- Now post nine block key points on Twitter or Instagram.
- Now take the Twitter screenshots and post them in a carousel on Facebook.
- Make unique short videos for each of the nine blocks and more in-depth videos on the blocks that get the most hearts -Tiktok
- Repeat until the boxes are complete and you are ready for your next article or video.
Above is one of many strategies on how we turn your articles into compiling unique content. The people who read your blog or article are likely not the same people who will be watching your TikTok; this gets your content in front of more people.
What Layout is best for Article, Advert or Email
Digital Viewing Pattern (Sub Concise Scanning)
Research from the NN/g group in 2006 identified many digital viewing patterns from their eye tracking research.
The most prevalent marketing tool today is the F-Shaped Pattern; see the image below to see how people read online content.
See examples below from major corporations.
Check our CSNA's detailed Analysis HERE for more information on eye-tracking research.
Like Trends Work for you,
Simply if there is a # trending on Twitter, a news article blowing up on Linkedin. Check up-and-coming trends and see if you have relevant content, make a quick post or relink to that article. Why not add a trending song on TikTok? (make sure the music matches the content)
Can you think of a way to convert a challenge into your brand? Imagine if you sell soy milk? Do a soy milk challenge when an ice bucket challenge is going,
Community vs Interest platforms
Both have benefits, but understanding how to distribute content can massively impact your results.
TikTok's interest-based distributions are the way of future platforms, so learning it will advantage you for many years to come; by far the best source of organic traffic on the internet, not just social media, in 2022
Brand Authority
Build confidence from your content consumers by speaking about topics you know or believe in; researching stuff you have no interest in to follow a trend will not work in the long run, and your lack of passion will show.
CSNA utilised tried and tested techniques to engage your clients. These are some of the main methods we use for article writing and video content.
- Hooks - Give them a reason to watch to the end.
- Value - Showcase the deal at the start of your content.
- Incorporate trends - make trends work for you (don't dance, innovate)
- A & B Roll - B-Roll (articles, images overlaid on top of the main content) Don't over or under-use. Make them engaging.
- Thumbnails matter - Gain instant attention and get a critical message about the article or video.
- Research your audience - Always spend time responding to every comment and review on post analytics (we will go over this later in this article)
Post-Monitoring
Gathering consumer data is crucial to growing your following and improving your brand awareness.
How many people read or view, the average watch time, demographic, and other data can help keep people viewing longer.
Gathering the correct information can show your followers' interests, then adding webhooks before the average view time hits; gives them a reason to keep watching you; the small things matter.
Make revenue from your content.
Creating content with a consumer's needs in mind builds a strong community, and they will keep coming back.
There is massive potential also benefit from this with 2nd,3rd and even 4th revenue stream to your business, using affiliates links, brand sponsorship and collaborations.
A few social media platforms pay when achieving platform KPIs; let's take youtube, for example,
if you get 1,000 subscribers and have a combined view time total of 4,000 hours. Becoming eligible to receive a fixed amount depending on your category for every additional 1,000 hours.
It must benefit your brand, not just your pocket; selling anything will hurt brand authority, destroy your credibility, and only promote what you believe, use or supply.
